LONDON - A combination crew composed of Yale heavyweights and lightweights defeated the seeded 'A' crew from Oxford Brookes by a length in the Henley Royal Regatta’s 4+ Prince Albert Challenge Cup Wednesday. The crew is composed of John Grunyk '10 and 2010 captain Brendan McCook '10 from the lightweights and rising senior Duncan Logie and Antonio Sirianni '10 from the heavyweights. Ian Schmertzler '10 is the coxswain.

Oxford Brookes held the lead over Yale at the Barrier and at Fawley, but the Bulldogs rowed through for the win.

The Prince Albert Challenge Cup also includes heavyweight crews from Ivy League rivals Harvard and Princeton. Harvard beat Isis boat club by two-thirds of a length Wednesday, while Princeton lost to Imperial College London by three-fourths of a length.

Now one of eight boats left in the competition, the Yale crew moves on to Thursday racing against Newcastle University. The winner of that race faces either University of Bristol or Imperial College London in the semifinals.
