NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Dozens of Yale student-athlete volunteers representing a variety of varsity teams, and over a hundred New Haven youngsters, gathered on Saturday, Apr. 26 for the annual Thomas W. Ford '42 Community Outreach Committee Spring Olympic Youth Day. The event was held on the fields near the Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 Field.
The Youth Day began at 10:00 a.m. as students from throughout the New Haven community gathered to meet the Yale student-athletes and organize themselves for the day's events.
The day was filled with sports-related activities including football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball and a variety of other games. Students were organized into groups and assigned to begin the day at a specific sport and rotate to other stations continued throughout the day.
Following the fun sports activities, Youth Day culminated with a barbeque for all in attendance. Students, parents and volunteers were then invited to attend the Yale varsity athletic events occurring that day: the Yale Football Blue/White Spring Game and the men's lacrosse match up against Harvard.
The Community Outreach Committee would like to thank all those who volunteered and helped make this year's Spring Olympic Youth Day a great success.
