NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Anita Thorvaldsdottir scored on a penalty kick, but it wasn't enough as the Yale women's soccer team fell to Princeton, 2-1, Saturday evening at Reese Stadium. The Tigers scored twice late, finding the back of the net less than four minutes apart to secure the victory.
With the victory, Princeton improved to 5-4-1 (1-1-0 Ivy), and Yale dropped to 5-6-0 (0-2-0 Ivy).
"Bummed for our group as I was as happy with the intensity and physicality we brought tonight," said Sarah Martinez, the Loring Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer. "Unfortunately we couldn't find our rhythm as much in the second half and they scored two quick goals after we got the go ahead late."
"A lot of points left in our league and we've got to match our intensity from tonight and find a way to be a little cleaner in both boxes," Martinez added. "They don't get easier but I'm excited to keep building with this team."
