Bulldogs Captured Second at the Event
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 3 Bulldog coed sailing team will be featured during ESPNU's broadcast of highlights from the ICSA/Gill Coed Dinghy National Championships. The Bulldog squad, which took second at the National Championship on its way to capturing the Fowle Trophy as the top team in college sailing, will be prominently featured in the one-hour program that will be broadcast at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday.
This is the fifth year that ESPNU will broadcast coverage of the Championship, which dates back to 1937. Onboard cameras and microphones will provide exciting coverage of the event, which saw the Bulldogs leading with only two races remaining in the event. The racing included 18 schools from around the nation that qualified through District and National Semifinal eliminations.
The program will be hosted by noted sailing commentator Gary Jobson and will include interviews with many of the competitors at the event. Jobson is a veteran of the college sailing world, winning the Everett B. Morris Trophy as the College Sailor of the Year in 1972 and 1973 while at SUNY Maritime.
