No. 3 Bulldogs Push On

Team Enters Three Regattas

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 3 Bulldogs are keeping the press on as October winds down, entering the Hoyt Trophy at Brown, the Oberg Trophy at MIT and the Southern Series at the McNay Family Sailing Center.

The Bulldogs are the reigning champions of the Hoyt Trophy, sailed out of the Edgewood Yacht Club in Providence, R.I.  Of last year's team, only senior Blair Belling and junior Joseph Morris will return for this year's event.  Morris has moved from B division to A division and will sail with freshman Amanda Salvesen.  Belling has a new skipper in sophomore Cameron Cullman for B division.  Sophomore Heather May will be available should winds turn breezy.

Similarly, junior Rob Struckett is the only veteran from last year's Oberg Trophy, sailed at MIT.  Struckett will skipper A division with fellow junior Isabel Elliman. freshman Max Nickbarg will race with senior Tatyana Camejo in B division and senior Nathan Stevens will sail with freshman Anna Han in C division.  The regatta will be sailed in MIT and Harvard's fleets of FJs.

Lastly, the Bulldogs play host to the final Southern Series of the season.  Tufts currently leads the season rankings, but  the action is tight across the rankings.  Racing on their home waters will be sophomore Zachary Foreman and senior Alexa Chu in A division and freshmen Nace Cohen and Maddy Yozwiak in B division.  The Saturday-only event may very well show off the best conditions that the McNay Family Sailing Center has to offer.

Small Craft Advisory conditions will likely dominate Saturday and possibly Sunday.  This fall has featured unusually strong winds, so many sailors will be well prepared for the special technical challenges that windy racing brings.

All racing begins this Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
