NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 2 Yale coed sailing team will begin its spring break training trip with two competitions this week. One group will race in the Connecticut College Fleet Race, while another will go south for the Eckerd Intersectional. The remaining Bulldogs will begin practices at University of South Florida.
Sailing on the Thames River this weekend, sophomore skippers Eric Anderson and Henry Lewis will brave the cold with freshman crews Amelia Dobronyi and Chandler Gregoire. This event will be the first fleet race for the Bulldogs this season.
In warmer waters, skippers sophomore Marly Isler and freshman Clara Roberston will sail the Eckerd Intersectional with crews sophomore Emily Johnson and freshman Natalya Doris. This southern intersectional will give the Bulldogs the opportunity to race against competitors not usually seen in New England.
The rest of the Bulldogs will begin their weeklong training trip out of USF. Many notable alumni will be joining the team to help prepare the sailors for the spring season.
