NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 2 Yale coed sailing team finishes its regular season this weekend, sailing the Boston Dinghy Cup at MIT and the Greater New York Open at Fordham. These are the last regattas before the New England Dinghy Championship next weekend.
The Boston Dinghy Cup is the oldest trophy in collegiate sailing. The regatta is sailed at the birthplace of modern collegiate sailing: MIT. Three divisions will rotate between MIT's fleets of Fireflies and FJs throughout the weekend. With three divisions racing in the Charles River's shifty breeze, the Boston Dinghy Cup rewards consistency.
The Greater New York Open is a one-day event hosted by Fordham. The fleet will sail in traditional collegiate 420s. Sophomore Eric Anderson and freshman Mitchell Kiss will skipper with crews sophomores Emily Johnson, Sanam Rastegar and Chandler Gregoire.
Racing will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Boston Dinghy Cup and 9:00 a.m. at the Greater New York Open.
