NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale Coed Sailing Team will compete in three regattas this weekend: The Hatch Brown Trophy at MIT, the Nevins Trophy at the US Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point and the Callagy Ross trophy at the University of Vermont. The Hatch Brown and Nevins Trophies are both top-level interconference regattas with the Hatch Brown representing more of the New England conference and the Nevins hosting the best teams of the Mid Atlantic conference. The Callagy Ross Trophy will serve as a qualifier for the Moody, another top-level interconference held at the University of Rhode Island on October 7-8.
Sailing for the Bulldogs at the Hatch Brown Trophy in C division will be first-year skipper Shawn Harvey and senior crew KB Knapp. Senior Casey Klingler will join with first-year Claudia Loiacono in B division. Junior and sophomore pair Nic Baird and Graceann Nicolosi will compete in A division.
At the Nevins Trophy, taking the A division will be juniors Nick Hernandez and Kira Woods. Sophomore Dylan DiMarchi and first-year Sonia Lingos-Utley will sail B division while first-year Adam Wolnikowski will compete in the laser class in C division.
At the Callagy Ross Trophy, first-years Nicholas Marwell and Kathleen Wells will sail A division with senior Claire Huebner and first-year Becca Rose in B division. Notably, Huebner won her division by a landslide last weekend, and will look to lead the mostly first-year team to another victory, securing a spot at the Moody Trophy.
Conditions look to be light to moderate this weekend. Racing begins at 10:30 for the Hatch Brown and Callagy Ross Trophies and at 9:00 for the Nevins Trophy on Saturday morning. Find results at www.scores.collegesailing.org
