NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Many of the Yale coed sailors will be taking the weekend off this weekend as there are not many events available to enter. There is one interconference as well as a big boat regatta held at the Larchmont Yacht Club. It could be a good opportunity for many of the athletes to rest mentally and physically as they are in the midst of midterm season.
Sailing at the Moody, the only interconference of the weekend hosted by the University of Rhode Island, will be junior skipper Nic Baird and sophomore crew Graceann Nicolosi in A division with senior captain Malcolm Lamphere and first-year Sonia Lingos-Utley sailing in B division.
An un-announced team will sail at the Storm Trysail Big Boat regatta held by Larchmont, which Is sailed in a PHRF format using a number of different keelboats. The event will likely be very fun and a good change of pace from dinghy sailing.
Wind conditions look medium to breezy for the weekend with warm temperatures, which should make the sailors very happy after a few weekends of shifty and light breeze.
