NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale coed sailing team will compete this weekend at Dartmouth, Boston College, Providence College and Tufts University. It will send three different teams out and will be competing in the first team race regatta of the year, one of the only regattas of this type held in the fall.
Traveling to Dartmouth during the height of foliage season will be seniors Caroline Colwell and Malcolm Lamphere, juniors Nic Baird and Nick Hernandez, sophomore Graceann Nicolosi and first-year Sonia Lingos-Utley. Baird and Nicolosi will be sailing A division, Lamphere and Lingos-Utley in B and Hernandez and Colwell in C.
In Providence at the PC invite, a first-year team consisting of Mina Cezairli, Martin Tipton, Kathleen Wells, and Adam Wolnikowski will take on Saturday while senior Patrick Buehler and first years Wells, Liviu Mosnoi and Jonathan Schwartz will sail Sunday.
Meanwhile, at the team race regatta hosted by Boston College and Tufts, each hosting one day of the event, a young team will compete looking to gain experience in this unfamiliar type of racing that will dominate the spring season. First years Shawn Harvey, Nick Marwell, Becca Rose and Emery Wallace will compete alongside senior KB Knapp and sophomores Dylan DiMarchi and Chrissie Klingler.
Temperatures remain warm even this late in the season, where just two years ago the sailors competed through snow and hail at Dartmouth. Wind conditions look to be moderate on Saturday and breezy on Sunday.
