NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The last weekend of regular season competition approaches as the Yale coed sailing team prepares for the Hoyt and Oberg trophies at Brown and MIT. Meanwhile, four of the team's sailors will be going to Long Island to compete in the Hinman trophy, which is the US team racing national championship and a qualifier for the world team racing championship.
Sailing at the Hoyt will be an entirely senior and first-year team, with senior Casey Klingler skippering in A division with first-year crew Claudia Loiacono. First-year Shawn Harvey and senior KB Knapp will compete in B division. Seniors Claire Huebner and Christopher Champa will serve as heavy crews for the event.
The Oberg in Boston is a three division regatta where sophomore Dylan DiMarchi will take on A division as a skipper while first-years Nick Marwell and Martin Tipton will drive in B and C division, respectively. Crewing for each skipper will be Sonia Lingos-Utley and Becca Rose in A division, Emery Wallace in B and Mina Cezairli in C.
This is the last weekend of the season before the conference championships, so the Bulldogs will be excited to make a good showing and gain some momentum to take into the end of the season.
Conditions should be very light on Saturday and moderate on Sunday mostly from a southerly direction, a steady condition at Brown.
