ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Yale sailing team came off its spring break training in strong fashion, winning the Graham Hall against most of the nation's top teams. The Elis took down No. 2 Georgetown handily in their highly anticipated first meeting of the season, winning the race in a 1-2-3 combination, and made a strong showing against several other strong teams, including No. 3 Hobart & William Smith Colleges and No. 6 Roger Williams University.

Yale's Result and Team:

Graham Hall Team Race (14/1 record)

Shawn Harvey / Graceann Nicolosi / Sam Tobin

Nick Hernandez / Catherine Webb / Claudia Loiacono

Nic Baird / Sonia Lingos-Utley / Graceann Nicolosi

Not only did the Bulldogs show strong chemistry and discipline, but they executed well in all conditions. The event saw winds of all race-able speeds, from the high teens to nearly zero, and seemed untouchable in every condition. The Bulldogs will come away from the weekend pleased with their work over spring break, and are certainly the team to beat. However, as star crew Nicolosi commented, "the team is happy with the result, but we were still making plenty of mistakes. We're going to keep working harder in practice and improving in order to stay on top."

After 8 days of sailing in the last 9 days, the team will take a few days off to recover. Next week they test themselves against the best teams in their own conference.
