NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 9 Bulldog coed sailing team will compete at the Atlantic Coast Tournament at Harvard on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament, which is the season-ending regatta for schools that failed to qualify for the Atlantic Coast Championships, will provide some tough competition for the Bulldogs.
The event, which will be sailed at the Harvard venue on the Charles River in Cambridge, is expected to feature shifty winds and flat water. The Bulldogs should be well-prepared for the venue because the team last competed on the unique Charles River two weekends ago in the Schell Trophy.
In 2006, the last time the team competed at the Atlantic Coast Tournament, the Bulldogs placed sixth, but were only four points out of third. This year, the Bulldogs, who are one of the strongest teams at the event, should again be near the top of the standings. Racing gets underway at 9:30 a.m.
