REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: Racing was postponed until 12:15 when a sea breeze filled which shifted 45 degrees all morning from the SE to SW, soon after 2:00 the Northerly came in and pushed the southerly out. The Northerly continued to shift to the west making conditions very difficult and trying for the race committee and sailors. Two redress requests were granted for a broken boat and a RC mishap. ONe protest was filed and is still pending as I write this. Special thanks to our Judges George Crocker and Sue Riley. Also special thanks to all the Coast Guard Cadets for running great races in tough conditions. All courses sailed were course 5 (goldcup).
Sunday: One race was started and abandoned sailed in a dying Northerly. After a break for lunch racing resumed with a nice Southerly at 11:35. Wind ranged from 5-8 knots all weekend . All races sailed were course 5. Thanks again to our Judges Sue Riley and George Crocker for hearing protests and monintoring Rule 42 on the water. Also thanks to the Coast Guard Sailing team in running another great event. It is noted that Conn-A and Harvard-A were winning the two races that were called off. Congratulations to Dartmouth for sailing a great event. Also, thank you to Marie Thompson who stopped by and talked with sailors on Sunday.
