REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday:
Competitors were treated to a gorgeous day on the Charles, sunny with temps in the 60s. The breeze started West at 4-8 MPH, built as it switched to the NE, then went E at 10-12 before tapering off. Courses were 4 W-L twice around, 4 gold cups and 4 modified port triangles. One capsize, 1 breakdown and 5 protests ending in 3 DSQ's.
Sunday:
With the sun as plentiful as the day before, the sailors took to the water around noon after waiting for the wind to fill in. Courses were WL twice around, WLW and a long-distance gold cup to end the day, all set a good distance West of the Mass. Ave bridge, giving Kevin Spacey plenty of room to shoot his film. Lots of general recalls. Wind from the East, 4-8. No breakdowns, no capsizes, 2 protests resulting in 2 DSQ's. Congratulations to the home team on their victory.
