NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After earning the first win and the first save of his career this past week, the Ivy League has recognized Greg Lyons as the co-recipient of the Pitcher of the Week award. The sophomore right-hander posted a 1.17 ERA in 7.2 innings of work in two outings against Rhode Island and Army. Lyons shares the honor with Eric Eadington of Harvard.
Lyons started his week against URI on Tuesday, closing out a 10-5 win against the Rams. The 6’4” righty allowed just two hits in four scoreless innings, striking out five batters and walking none to tally his first career save.
Lyons would allow just one earned run five days later against Army, scattering four hits over the final 3.2 innings to allow the Bulldogs to rally past the Black Knights for 9-6 win. The big Texan struck out for batters and once again did not issue a walk to record the first win of his career.
