Tossed 11 Shutout Innings In Two Games
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior David Hickey, who pitched 11 scoreless innings last week and earned a pair of victories, was named the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week.
Hickey's top performance came in a 1-0 victory over Penn. He pitched all nine innings, struck out a career-high 11 and limited the Quakers to just four hits. Earlier in the week, Hickey was the starting pitcher against UConn, tossed two scoreless innings and struck out three on a "staff day." The Bulldogs went on to a 15-5 victory over the Huskies.
On the season, Hickey is striking out nearly eight hitters per nine innings, and opponents are batting just .235 against him.
Hickey is a Darien, Conn., native and earned All-FCIAC honors in 2010 at Darien High School.
In addition, sophomore Green Campbell was named to the Honor Roll. In four games last week, Campbell batted .500 (6-of-12) with a double and four RBI.
