Scott Politz was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for the second time in as many weeks, the conference announced on Monday.

Politz tossed a complete-game, one-hitter to lift the Bulldogs to a 4-1 road victory over New Orleans last Friday.  In his previous start, Poltiz went 7 and 2/3 innings without giving up an earned run against New Mexico State, the top-hitting program in the nation, and picked up the victory.

"Great back to back starts to begin the year," Yale head coach John Stuper said. "Scott has worked his tail off. He works hard between starts, and on the day he pitches, he is all business. I've said it a thousand times: I'm glad he's on our side."

The Privateers last Friday entered the game 6-1 on the season and fresh off a victory over then-No. 23 Southern Mississippi.  Politz struck out five and faced four batters over the minimum to earn his second win of the season in as many starts.

In his first two starts, Politz has allowed one earned run (0.54 ERA) and seven hits over his first 16 and 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts and four walks.

The league office also named senior Griffin Dey and first-year Mason LaPlante to the weekly honor roll.  Dey went 7 for 14 on the weekend with a triple and homer, while LaPlante went 4 for 7 with four runs scored.

Yale stands at 3-4 overall and will travel to face No. 4 Florida this weekend.
