Ray Guarino will enter his ninth season on Coach Stuper's staff in 2018 after helping the Bulldogs to the 2017 Ivy League title and the last two Rolfe Division Championships. 

Guarino works primarily with the Bulldogs' infielders and outfielders while assisting with all defensive strategies. In addition to dealing with the defensive aspects of the game, he also serves as Yale's first base coach.

He also served for the last five years as head coach to the Hamden, Conn., Post 88 American Legion.

Guarino has nearly 20 years of college and high school coaching experience. Prior to Yale, he spent two seasons at Foran High School in Milford, Conn., before moving on to West Haven High School in West Haven, Conn., where he played an integral part in helping the Blue Devils to the 2009 Connecticut state championship and the No. 1 overall ranking in Connecticut.

In the summer, Coach Guarino is responsible for running Coach Stuper's World Class Baseball Summer Camp for kids, ages 7-12. The summer of 2017 was Guarino's 20th with World Class Sports.

In addition to coaching baseball, Guarino in his 18th year teaching seventh grade at St. Francis/St. Rose of Lima School in New Haven, Conn.  During the winter, Guarino is also in his eighth year officiating high school basketball for Board 10 New Haven County, and a few area recreational leagues.

He is a 2000 graduate of Southern Connecticut State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He lives in West Haven with his wife, Jackie.
