An electrical engineering and computer science major who resides in Silliman College...Athletic, hard throwing right-hander....excellent fielder....has very resilient arm and is able to pitch quite often...has led the staff in appearances the last two seasons.
As a junior: Appeared in 18 games as a pitcher, and five as a regular player, starting once at second base and twice at third...had three hits in doubleheader versus Dartmouth...
As a sophomore: Led the team with 15 appearances....had two wins, two saves, and a very solid 3.55 ERA...best outing vs. Bucknell, as he went 4.2 innings, giving up just 2 hits and no runs while striking out six.
As a freshman: Appeared in 12 games, including one start...struck out 14 in 16 innings of work...improved steadily during the year.
At Punahou School: Was captain of the baseball team his senior year...earned All-State honors.
WHAT STUPER SAYS ABOUT SHIMOKAWA:
"Doug can generate some very good velocity. When he throws off speed pitches for strikes, he can be excellent. I think this will be his year."
