Finished in the top 10 in the league in five other categories - assists (6th, 3.2 per game), three-point field goals made (7th, 1.9), assist/turnover ratio (7th, 1.4), field goal percentage (9th, .438) and free throw percentage (10th, .802)... Led team with 54 three-pointers, which tied for the seventh most in a season in school history, and with 90 assists... Second in scoring (12.6 ppg.)... Had two game-winning three-point plays in the final seconds - against Holy Cross in overtime and against Cornell at home... Shot .889 (24-of-27) from the free throw line in final five minutes of Yale's victories... Named the Ivy League Player of the Week after scoring 25 points in the win at Boston College... Received the Josh Hill Award, which is presented for hard work and dedication to the Yale Basketball program.
2009-10: Recipient of the John C. Cobb Award as Yale's rookie of the year and the George McReynolds Award as the team's top defensive player… Appeared in 30 games and started 12… Second on the team in three-pointers (24)… Led the team in scoring twice, including in the victory at Dartmouth… Reached double figures in scoring three times… Made his first career start against Lehigh and had 14 points in 23 minutes… Made 4-of-5 three-pointers and scored 17 points against Albertus Magnus.
Before Yale: Reno High School’s all-time leading scorer with 2,046 points... Two-time all-state selection... Averaged 22 points, five rebounds and four assists as a senior... 2009 Reno Gazette 4A Northern Player of the Year... 2009 High Desert League Player of the Year... 2008 Sierra League Player of the Year... Two-time Sierra League first team selection... Helped lead Reno to two state championships and two Nevada northern regional titles... Played for the Las Vegas Prospects AAU team.
Personal: Grandfather, Mel Nowell, played basketball at Ohio State, which made three straight appearances in the NCAA Championship game, and was a teammate of Jerry Lucas, John Havlicek and Bob Knight… Played at the same high school as 2004-05 Yale captain Alex Gamboa. In fact, Morgan's parents bought the house Gamboa grew up in... Spent two months in the summer of 2011 in Mauritius, an island nation off the southeast coast of Africa, as an Eli-Africa fellow. Morgan and nine other Yale students ran an after school program for local children. Morgan also spent time writing proposals trying to promote Eli-Africa to government officials.
