2013-14: Named to the Capital One Academic All-America third team… Only the eighth player in school history and first since David Tompkins in 1999 to earn Academic All-America honors… Maintained a 4.0 grade point average through six semesters at Yale… Was elected to the Yale Phi Beta Kappa society, one of only eight juniors at Yale selected… Started a career-high 22 games… Tied for fifth on the team in scoring (4.9 ppg.)… Only player to start all 14 Ivy League games… Scored a season-high 12 points against Quinnipiac in the opening round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament… Recipient of the team’s Richard Derby (Academic) Award for the third straight year.
2012-13: Second on the team in rebounding (4.0 rpg.) and tied for third in scoring (7.7 ppg.)… First career start came against Army and finished with 15 points… Scored in double figures in four of the last five games, including a career-high 19-point performance at Cornell… Missed the first five games with an injury… Recipient of the team’s George McReynolds (Defense) and Richard Derby (Academic) awards.
2011-12: Appeared in 21 games off the bench… Missed the first five games of the season with an injury… First career appearance came at Vermont… Grabbed six rebounds at Wake Forest… Recipient of the team’s Richard Derby Academic Award.
Off the Court:
- Co-coordinator of the Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project's B.R.E.D. program which delivers leftover bread and baked goods from Yale's dining halls to local halfway houses
- Student Researcher in the Rodeheffer Lab at the Yale School of Medicine to investigate the molecular mechanisms of how fat is regulated and how obesity occurs
- Student Manager for the Yale refrigerator agency, in charge of marketing and delivering yearly mini-fridge rentals to students
Before Yale: Horace Greeley High School’s all-time leading scorer (1,516 points) and rebounder (1,021 rebounds)… Averaged 28.8 points, 15.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2.2 steals and 3.3 blocks as a senior… Three-time all-league, all-conference and all-section selection… Named to Class AA New York All-State third team… McDonald’s All-America nominee… Con Edison Scholar-Athlete Award winner… Helped lead Horace Greeley to a pair of league championships… Played for the Westchester Hawks AAU team that finished fourth at nationals in 2009… Teammates with the Hawks included West Virginia’s Jabarie Hinds, Lehigh’s Conroy Baltimore and Marshall’s Chris Martin.
Personal: Interned at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York in the summer of 2013… Volunteered at Yale-New Haven Hospital's Pediatric Emergency Department in the summer of 2012, comforting and entertaining children in addition to assisting doctors and nursing staff… Recipient of the Edward Meeker Freshman English Prize for excellence in English composition...
