WORCESTER, Mass.- The heavyweight varsity eight will race in the grand final later today to compete for Eastern Sprints gold and the Ivy League title. The Bulldogs finished second in their heat with a time of 5:37.4, behind Northeastern and just in front of Navy to secure a spot in the grand final. They will race against Northeastern, Harvard, Boston University, Princeton and Brown at 5:30 p.m.
The second and third varsities finished fourth and third respectively in their heats and both will be racing in the petit finals of their events later in the day. The second varsity will race against Cornell, Dartmouth, Wisconsin, Columbia and Syracuse at 4:33 p.m. The third varsity will compete against Syracuse, Dartmouth, Columbia, Harvard and Wisconsin at 2:44 p.m.
Yale's varsity four was able to win a silver medal in its final-only event, finishing in front of M.I.T. and Holy Cross and falling to Harvard with a time of 7:14.7.
