NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale lightweight crew team will conclude its fall season on Sunday Oct. 28 with the Princeton Three-Mile Chase. The regatta, held on Lake Carnegie in Princeotn, N.J., will feature many of the Bulldogs' EARC opponents, giving them the opportunity to test themselves one last time before the winter season. Many of the oarsmen will also race in multiple events, giving them valuable racing experience before the spring.
Last weekend at the Head of the Charles, the two Yale fours finished in second and third place in the lightweight fours event. This marked the third year in a row that Yale had the two fastest collegiate boats in the event. The top four narrowly missed the top spot, falling to the New York Athletic Club by 1.6 seconds. In the lightweight eights event, the Yale eight improved on last year's fifth-place finish, finishing in fourth place. In a race won by Harvard, Yale narrowly missed third, losing to Princeton by 1.5 seconds.
Last year at the Princeton Chase, the Yale varsity finished fourth in the varsity lightweight eight event, thus will start fourth this year. Yale also finished eight in the lightweight eights event and second in the pairs event. In addition, the freshmen finished fourth overall in the freshmen event, which was second among lightweight crews.
The schedule of events is as follows:
10:30 AM: Men's Varsity Lightweight 8+
1:00 PM: Men's Freshmen Heavyweight/Lightweight 8+
