No. 2 Lightweights Prepare for Doubleheader

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 2 Yale lightweight crew team has a busy weekend ahead, as it travels to Philadelphia and then to Ithaca, N.Y., for a double header. Saturday, the Bulldogs race against No. 5 Columbia and No. 7 Penn, on the Schuylkill River, in Philadelphia, for the Dodge Cup. Yale has won the Dodge Cup in 33 of the last 35 years, including the last nine years. After the race, Yale heads to Ithaca, N.Y., to race against No. 3 Cornell on Sunday. With a trio of ranked, Ivy League opponents to race against, Yale faces a pair of tests this weekend.

Last weekend, Yale swept Georgetown and MIT at home on the Housatonic River in Derby, Conn. In doing so, the Bulldogs retained the Joy Cup for the 34th straight year with a 9.2 second victory in the varsity eight. Yale was also victorious in the second varsity eight, first freshmen eight and third varsity four.

Last year, Yale won three of four races in the Dodge Cup regatta, highlighted by the varsity eight's 2.1-second victory over Columbia. The second varsity eight and first freshmen eight also won their races. Against Cornell, Yale also won three of four races, with the varsity eight winning by 5.4 seconds. Again, the second varsity eight and first freshmen eight were also victorious.

11:00 a.m.: Second Varsity Eight
11:20 a.m.: First Varsity Eight

9:00 a.m.: Varsity Four
9:20 a.m.: First Freshmen Eight
9:40 a.m.: Second Varsity Eight
10:00 a.m.: First Varsity Eight
10:20 a.m.: Third Varsity Eight
