DERBY, Conn. -- The Yale lightweights won both of their races over Dartmouth Saturday morning as they raced on the rainy and windy Housatonic in an earlier-than-scheduled matchup between the two schools. Six seniors of the big class of 2019 raced their final time on the Housatonic and bid a victorious farewell to the hardy Yale racing fans who made the trek to Gilder Boathouse.
Yale's win in the Varsity Eight means that the Loyal Durand Cup remains in Derby for 2019.
Both of Yale's races were wire-to-wire victories over the Green. Next weekend, Yale will conclude its regular season of Cup racing with four eights of athletes taking on Princeton and Harvard in Princeton, N.J., to compete for both the Goldthwait and Vogel Cups.
