The Yale varsity lightweight eight made it two straight wins on the world famous Thames River by taking a one and three-quarters length victory over Nottingham today to advance to the quarterfinals.
Head coach Andy Card's eight defeated Bristol on Wednesday in the first round by finishing the 2,000-meter course in 6:59 and winning by two and three-quarters lengths. The Blue and White shaved five seconds off its time today but won in a closer race.
The Elis, 2005 national lightweight champions, will face Manchester on Friday as they move closer to the final of the Temple Challenge Cup.
The Yale straight four fell in its opening race at Henley today and was eliminated from the competition. The Eli four lost by three lengths to the New York Athletic Club.
