No. 10 Yale to Defend Squad Championships
Opportunity to Regain Momentum
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's fencing team will head to NYU in New York this weekend to defend their title at the Feb. 26 United States Collegiate Squad Championships, which they shared with No. 7 Penn.
The Bulldogs will venture down to New York after a fifth place finish at the Feb. 11-12 Ivy League Championships, held this year at home at Coxe Cage.
As such, the Elis will look to repeat last year's strong performance at the College Squad Championships. A strong result would position Yale well in advance of the Mar. 11 NCAA Northeast Regional.
At last year's competition, the Bulldogs earned a pair of silver medals and a bronze in a combined effort that scored them a total of 26 overall points and a share of the inaugural tournament.
The epee and foil weapons squads claimed silver medals while the sabre squad notched up a bronze medal-winning performance.
With a large portion of that winning team returning to Sunday's competition, the Elis are sure to be in with a shot of the title.
