Difficult Day at NYU

NEW YORK – After a grueling day of fencing at NYU on Feb. 26, the No. 10 Yale men's fencing team finished in eighth place at the United States Collegiate Squad Championships.

That result came after several tricky bouts on a day when the competition proved consistently strong.

The Bulldogs' sabre weapons squad put in the team's best performance, notching up a seventh-place finish.

Meanwhile, the Elis' foil and epee weapons squads finished in ninth and 10th place respectively.

No. 7 Penn took out the competition, with 146 total points. The Bulldogs ended the day's competition in a tie for eighth place with NYU at 77 points.

At last year's competition, the Elis shared the inaugural title with Penn after its individual weapons squads all put up top-three finishes.

Yale now has a two week break before competing at the Mar. 11 NCAA Northeast Regional.
