Look to Repeat Last Year's Positive Showing
NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The Bulldogs will travel to New York City for the Jan. 25 NYU Invitational, where they will take on a slew of teams in this important early-season tournament.
Yale will go up against a field that includes teams from Columbia, North Carolina, Notre Dame, NYU, Ohio State, Wayne State and St. John's.
For an astounding four years in a row, Yale has posted a 3-2 record at the event. While the Bulldogs have been happy with these positive results, they will look to improve upon that 3-2 mark at this year's event. Last year, the Bulldogs beat UNC, NYU and Wayne State, while falling to the squads from Notre Dame and Ohio State.
The Elis are coming off a commanding Jan. 18 win against Sacred Heart. Strong performances from junior Sam Broughton and freshman Reed Srere bolstered their effort. The 17-10 victory was captured due to particularly great showings from the foil and squads.
They hope to carry that momentum into Saturday's matchups. These first few meets of the spring season are critical to Yale's hopes for late-season success.
