  • Harutunian Named Ivy League Coach Of The Year

    It’s been a successful season for the Yale men’s fencing team. The Bulldogs placed third in the Ivy League, their best finish since 2011, and had the individual epee Ivy League champion. The architect of that success, legendary head coach Henry Harutunian, has been selected as the Ivy League Coach of the Year.

    On the second day of the Philadelphia Invitational, the Bulldogs went 4-1 against challenging opponents. Because of the weather, several scheduled opponents were not able to attend, so the Elis has to adapt to different schools’ strategies and styles in order to be victorious.

  • Yale Finishes Day One of Philadelphia Invitational

    At the Philadelphia Invitational, the men’s fencing team began the two-day tournament with a 1-1 record. Because of a predicted snowstorm, several schools didn’t arrive at the competition, so the Bulldogs needed to adapt to a schedule change as soon as they arrived at the venue.
  • Bulldogs Win Four Of Five Matches At Penn State Invitational

    At one of their toughest tournaments of the season, the men’s fencing team finished the day with an impressive 4-1 record. After an unfortunate 17-10 loss against perennial powerhouse Penn State, the Bulldogs enjoyed a 24-3 victory over Haverford.
  • Bulldogs Ready for a Fight at Penn State Invitational

    The men’s fencing team will be traveling to State College, PA, where they will compete at the Penn State Invitational, one of their toughest meets of the season. The Bulldogs are coming off of a demanding week of winter training, so are feeling stronger than ever going into the competition against formidable opponents.

    In their first official team competition of the year, the Bulldogs defeated four of five challengers -- BC, Brandeis, Saint John’s, and MIT -- losing to UNC. Senior Walter Musgrave and sophomore Cameron Allen finished the day with impressive 10-2 records.
