ITHACA, NY - In their final match of the day, the Bulldogs fell to Columbia 18-9.
Yale's epee squad came out on top of the Lions, posting a 6-3 victory. John Beski went 2-1, and Michael Pearce was undefeated. Yale was not as successful in foil or sabre, falling 7-2 and 8-1 respectively. Cory Werk again came up with Yale's only two wins in foil, defeating Columbia's returning First Team All Ivy selection Scott Sugimoto. In sabre, Chris Peterson came up with Yale's only victory.
Although upset by the loss, the Bulldogs recognized that the day's competition is the hardest they'll face all season.
"It's a pretty cut-and-dry issue," Christopher Sinay said. "They're both great teams."
