John Beski posted Yale's only top-eight finish at the 2003 Penn State Open, held from November 15-16 in State College, PA. Beski earned a sixth place standing in the epee to lead the Bulldogs at the event.
Following Beski in the epee event were Bulldogs Will Tauxe (16th place), James Rohrbach (23rd overall) and Mike Alexander (31st). Penn State's Adam Wiercioch came in first overall.
In the foil division, Michael Abondi led the Elis with a 19th place showing. Chie-yu Lin and James Yen finished in 37th and 41st places, respectively, while Kawing Cho rounded out Yale's performance with a 42nd place standing. Rutgers' Jesse Schibilia won the event.
In saber, Penn State's Marten Zagunis won the event. Harry Flaster, an ex-football player who has joined the fencing team, finished 28th, while Chris Siney ended up in 33rd. Alex Ramos finished in 45th place.
The Bulldogs travel to New York University on Tuesday, Dec. 2 for a dual meet.
