Three members of the Yale football team will be participating in the Bulldogs’ Pro Day workout on March 25. Tight end A.J. Haase, defensive end Travis Henry and All-Ivy punter and placekicker Tom Mante will perform for scouts from the National Football League at Coxe Cage in New Haven.

Marrow Donor Testing Drive Set for Thursday, Apr. 22 at Commons
The Yale football team and Yale women’s ice hockey team will lead a marrow donor testing drive Thursday, Apr. 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Commons, located on the corner of College Street and Grove Street in New Haven. The drive is free, open to the public and includes pizza and light lunch refreshments. News Channel 8 anchor Ann Nyberg will be on hand at the start of the drive to greet participants. The drive is part of the “Get in the Game. Save a Life.” campaign for the National Marrow Donor Program. Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases depend on the NMDP’s Be The Match Registry to find a match. The testing, which consists of a simple cheek swab, has a special meaning for the Yale athletics department because Bulldog women’s ice hockey player Mandi Schwartz (Wilcox, Sask.) is a leukemia survivor and is in need of a marrow donor.

Ten Yale student-athletes were honored today, as the Ivy League released its list of those selected for Academic All-Ivy recognition in fall sports. Eligible student-athletes include all starters or key reserves on officially recognized varsity teams that have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Senior defensive lineman Tom McCarthy (Chester, N.J./Delbarton) has been elected captain of the Yale football team for the 2010 season after a vote by team members. McCarthy, the 133rd captain in Yale's history, was introduced at the annual team banquet Sunday at Commons.

126th Edition of The Game Saturday at Noon
The Yale football team (4-5, 2-4 Ivy) might be looking at this Saturday's season finale with Harvard (6-3, 5-1) at Yale Bowl and the Class of '54 Field as a chance to level the record, but it is fighting for much more. The Bulldogs, trying to snap a two-game skid, hope to grab the rivalry bragging rights for the first time in three years and an edge in the off-season recruiting battles. Harvard’s Late Comeback Decides The Game, 14-10
Harvard quarterback Collier Winters’ 32-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Chris Lorditch with 1:32 remaining capped a late comeback for Harvard and gave the Crimson a 14-10 win in the 126th edition of The Game Saturday afternoon at the Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 Field. The Crimson scored twice in the final 6:46 after being kept off the scoreboard on their first seven drives of The Game by the Yale defense, including a goal-line stand by the Bulldogs in the third quarter.

How’s Mandi Doing?
It has been almost a year since Yale senior forward Mandi Schwartz was diagnosed with leukemia, and seven months since her women’s hockey teammates joined with the Yale football team for a record-setting marrow donor testing drive – a drive that helped save another leukemia patient’s life. As both of those teams get set to battle archrival Harvard this weekend in New Haven, Schwartz remains home in Saskatchewan, where she returned for treatment. But she is still very much on the minds of her many friends at Yale, and she recently checked in with some good news.

Parking Passes Sold Out For Saturday
All parking lots at Yale Bowl for this Saturday's Yale-Harvard football game are completely SOLD OUT. There will not be parking available on game day at Yale Bowl without a parking pass. Visitors to the Bowl on Nov. 21 who were not able to secure a parking pass in advance, should not come to the Bowl expecting to park on-site. Instead, there are numerous convenient parking options available to fans and FREE shuttle bus service to and from the Bowl is provided from two downtown locations. There is also a park and walk option available to fans in lots within one mile of the Yale Bowl. All of these options are detailed below.

Princeton Holds Off Yale, 24-17
The last three weeks of the Yale football season have been marked by a pattern of late comebacks by the Bulldogs. Unfortunately, Saturday's effort at Princeton came up just short. A pair of touchdowns in the second half cut an 18-point Eli deficit down to just four points with 11:42 to play, but Princeton tacked on a field goal and denied a late drive by Yale to finish off a 24-17 win at Princeton Stadium.

Late Comeback Falls Short vs. Brown, 35-21
For a moment, it looked as if the Yale football team was about to pull off another fourth-quarter comeback reminiscent of their rally from a 12-point deficit at Columbia the week before. The Bulldogs trailed Brown 35-21, but they had scored on two of their last three drives when they got to the Bear six-yard line with just over three minutes to play Saturday afternoon at the Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 Field. But the Bears got the play that they needed -- a leaping interception in the end zone by cornerback AJ Cruz -- and were able to finish off the Bulldogs without any further threats.

Kenney Center, Jensen Plaza Open Saturday
A revered, 95-year-old American sports venue has received a grand entrance fitting its national historic landmark status. The Kenney Center and Jensen Plaza are finished and officially open this Saturday for the Yale-Brown football game at Yale Bowl and the Class of ’54 Field. These two additions, to be officially dedicated the morning of the Nov. 21 Yale-Harvard game, constitute the final phase of the $30 million restoration of the facility.

The Yale junior varsity football team ran for 283 yards, including 184 from freshman running back Taylor Stib, en route to a 34-26 win over Bridgton Academy Sunday afternoon at Clint Frank Field. Haase’s 10-yard touchdown catch with 58 seconds to play -- Yale’s third touchdown of the fourth quarter -- capped an improbable Bulldog comeback and finished off a 23-22 win at Columbia Saturday afternoon. The Elis got turnovers on Columbia’s final three drives of the game, plus a touchdown-saving tackle from junior cornerback Adam Money, to pull out the victory after trailing by 12 points with just over six minutes left.

Penn Tops Yale 9-0 on Rainy Day in Philly
Two tough defenses went to battle in the rain at Franklin Field Saturday afternoon, and when all was said and done the game was determined in a span of less than two minutes late in the first quarter. A field goal and an interception return for a touchdown gave Penn a 9-0 win over Yale.

Rice’s TD is All Yale Defense Needs; Elis Blank Lehigh 7-0
He’s now known as one of the top linebackers in the Ivy League, but back in high school Yale senior Paul Rice was a running back in addition to playing defense. Rice still knows what to do when he gets the ball in his hands, and he showed that with a 40-yard touchdown run on a fake punt early in the third quarter Saturday afternoon at Lehigh. That was enough for a 7-0 Bulldog win, as Yale became the first team since 1986 to shut Lehigh out.

Hart’s Big Day Fuels 38-7 Win Over Dartmouth
Potential started turning into reality for the Yale offense on Saturday, and the end result was the Bulldogs’ highest point total in more than a year. Junior quarterback Brook Hart threw for 390 yards (the sixth-highest total in Yale history), including three touchdowns, to lead Yale to a decisive 38-7 victory over Dartmouth at the Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 Field. The biggest play of the day was a 73-yard touchdown to wide receiver Chris Smith, one of several freshmen who made their presence known on Saturday.

JVs Fall at Brown, 13-8
The Yale junior varsity football lost at Brown 13-8 Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs got a touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Dez Duron to sophomore receiver Lars Knudsen, and a two-point conversion run from freshman tailback Taylor Stibb, but that was all the scoring for the day. All the scoring for both teams came in the first half, as Brown had a touchdown run and two field goals.

Lafayette Beats Yale 31-14 on Rainy Saturday at Yale Bowl
Yale got the start it wanted Saturday afternoon against Lafayette, forcing a Leopard fumble on the opening kickoff that set up a Bulldog touchdown 3:22 into the game. But Lafayette responded by reeling off 24 straight points between the start of the second quarter and the start of the fourth, eventually coming away with a 31-14 win on a rainy day at the Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 Field.

For the first time in 19 seasons, the Lafayette football team is coming to West Haven to take on Yale. Sophomore outside linebacker Matt Battaglia forced a safety in the fourth quarter to finish off the 8-0 shutout.

Big Red Edges Bulldogs 14-12
An 81-yard touchdown on Cornell’s first play from scrimmage provided a rough start to Saturday’s game for Yale at the Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 Field. But the Bulldog defense then proceeded to shut the Big Red down, allowing only 85 yards of total offense the rest of the way, and the offense found itself in a position to tie the game after a 1-yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Patrick Witt made the score 14-12 Cornell with no time left on the clock in the fourth quarter. But the Bulldogs could not complete the two-point conversion, and Cornell came away with the win in the Ivy League opener for both teams.
