Yale QB Produces 4 TDs
PRINCETON, N.J. – Yale QB Patrick Witt (Wylie, Texas), who was responsible for four TDs in Saturday's 37-27 win over Georgetown, was named Ivy League co-Offensive Player of Week.
Witt, sharing the first honors of 2011 with Brown signal-caller Kyle Newhall-Caballero, threw for 280 yards including three TDs while scoring on a four-yard run. The Bulldog senior (23 of 31) helped his squad overcome a pair of deficits on the way to a 399-yard day of offense.
His big day moved him up on some of the Yale career lists. He is now sixth with 23 TD passes, third with 373 completions and fifth with 3,995 yards.
The Ancient Eight honor was not the only good news of the day for Witt, who is Yale's National Football Foundation & Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete nominee. The Yale QB received word today that he is one of Yale's candidates for a 2011 Rhodes Scholarship.
The Bulldogs open Ivy play this Saturday at noon with Cornell coming to the Bowl.
