12-Date Schedule Ends With April 21 Blue-White Game
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – On-field preparation for the 2012 Yale football season begins on March 28 with the first of 12 spring practice dates, culminating with the April 21 Blue-White Game at Yale Bowl. Tony Reno, the new Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of Football at Yale, gets his first look at the Bulldogs on the grass with two-hour practices that run from 4 to 6 p.m. all days but Thursday.
While the coaching staff prepares for spring practice and works diligently to finalize its class of 2016, the Yale players have been working hard in Payne Whitney Gym with strength & conditioning coach Emil Johnson since returning from the winter break.
Thirty-nine lettermen, including All-Ivy League WR Chris Smith (Midlothian, Va.) and captain Will McHale (LB, Greenwich, Conn.) return from the 2011 team that went 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the Ivy League. There are large holes to fill among the 17 lost lettermen, and the Elis will field a very young team in 2012.
