Bulldog Star Returns
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Chris Smith, a wide receiver and one of the most explosive offensive talents in the Ivy League in 2011, has been named to the watch list of College Football Performance Awards for its 2013 kickoff returner award. Smith set a league record with two kick returns for touchdowns in a game as a junior but was not in school last year.
The Bulldogs are thrilled to have the versatile Smith back on the field. Despite playing just six games, the Midlothian, Va., native earned second-team All-Ivy honors in 2011 as both a receiver and kick returner. He led the Blue with 620 receiving yards and six TDs, while there were four games over 100 yards, including 174 at Lafayette.
Yale's career leader in kickoff returns for TDs (2), Smith is also tops in KOR yards (1,468) while he is eighth in receptions (92). He is the team's active leader in numerous offensive categories.
