Two Yale OL Get Academic Honor

Oppenheimer, Chism Named All-District

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Offensive linemen John Oppenheimer (Menlo Park, Calif.) and Will Chism (Ridgeland, Miss.) have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Division I First Team.

Oppenheimer, a three-year starter at center, has a 3.46 GPA in economics. The 6-foot, 264-pound senior is an active member of the Mandi Schwartz Marrow Donor Registration Drive at Yale. He made a live-saving marrow donation last spring and went to Washington, D.C. this past summer to speak to members of congress about the need for funding. Oppenheimer was an All-Ivy pick in 2012.

Chism, a junior in his second season as a starter, is a political science major with a 3.47 GPA. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound left guard was selected to Phil Steele's 2013 College Football Preview pre-season All-Ivy League squad.

The Eli pair are now eligible for national honors, and the voting for that takes place in a few weeks.

The two linemen have helped the Elis win four of their first seven games while averaging 30 points and 444 yards of total offense per game. The Bulldogs take on Brown Saturday at Yale Bowl in a noon kickoff.
