Yale Captain Gets Sports Network Honor

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Sports Network FCS Pre-season All-America Team was announced today and Yale football captain Deon Randall made the third unit as an all-purpose selection.

Randall, a first-team All-Ivy and All-New England pick last fall, is third at Yale in career receptions (146), eighth 8th in TD receptions (11) and ninth in yards (1,391) after a great 2013 campaign.

Last fall he hauled in 85 passes, one shy of the school record, and had 1,021 all-purpose yards, which included rushing yards and punt returns.

Randall, who is on the 2014 College Football Performance Awards Watch List as a wide receiver, is a two-time All-Ivy League choice with NFL aspirations.

He had a career-high 11 catches for 148 yards with three scores in a home win over Cornell in 2013 while ranking fifth in the FCS with 8.5 receptions per game.

The San Diego, Calif., native and political science major is currently working on the Yale campus and preparing for the 2014 season. Randall and the Bulldogs begin official practices in mid-August with their sights set on a Sept. 20 opener at home against Lehigh.
