Lamar Gets Ivy Player of Week

Junior RB Has Big Day at Penn

PRINCETON, N.J. - Alan Lamar (Olive Brank, Miss.) missed the entire 2017 season with an injury and was slowed by similar issues early this fall. The junior running back let everyone know he is back to form with a pair of triple-digit rushing days in the last two wins. Lamar ran for 179 yards and two touchdowns in a 23-10 win at Penn last Friday that earned him Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week.

Lamar, who had 7.5 per carry and caught two passes while also returning kickoffs at Franklin Field, was Yale's freshman MVP in 2016 after leading the squad with 557 yards and five TDs. The Parade All-American from DeSoto Central High School has four career 100-yard days for Yale, including one against Penn in 2016.

This is the second straight week the Bulldogs have taken the league's top offensive honor. Quarterback Kurt Rawlings was selected after the win at the Bowl over Mercer on Oct. 13. Rookie Noah Pope, a linebacker from Memphis, Tenn., earned Ivy Honor Roll status for a second straight week after making 10 tackles.

The Elis (4-2, 2-1 Ivy) travel to Columbia on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kick.
