Preparation for the 2009 Yale Football Season begins Monday at 4 p.m. with the first day of spring practice. Monday afternoon also marks the field debut of first-year head coach Tom Williams, who inherits a Bulldog squad that comes off a 6-4 (4-3 Ivy) mark in 2008 and returns 36 lettermen, including a dozen starters.

Monday's practice, one of 12 spring dates, is without pads and runs until 6 p.m. It will serve as the first look at the Bulldogs for both Williams and seven new assistant coaches. Rick Flanders and Duane Brooks, who return to the defense from Jack Siedlecki's staff, know the talent well.

The spring workouts end with an April 25, 2 p.m., Blue-White scrimmage at Yale Bowl.
