Yale Football Team Back on Campus Thursday

Aug. 19, 2008

Preparation for the 2008 Yale football season begins this week with 110 players reporting to campus on Thursday and hitting the field for the first time at 2 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs, 17-3 over the last two seasons under Jack Siedlecki, Yale's Joel E. Smilow `54 Head Coach of Football, are almost a month away from hosting the season opener against Georgetown on Sept. 20.

Friday, the first day on the field, includes on-field testing and practice from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The Elis, led by senior captain and linebacker Bobby Abare, are back at practice on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 2:30 to 5:15 p.m.

The Blue, picked to finish tied with Harvard for first place in the 2008 Ivy League Media Pre-Season Poll, also returns 2007 All-America running back Mike McLeod.
