Abare Named Pre-Season All-America

Aug. 26, 2008

Yale senior football captain Bobby Abare, an honorable mention All-American last fall, has been named to The Sports Network's 2008 Pre-Season All-America second team.

Abare joins teammate Mike McLeod on TSN's second team heading into the Sept. 20 Yale opener at home against Georgetown. Abare is a two-time first-team All-Ivy LB who has led the Bulldogs in tackles the last two falls. He had 53 solos and 33 assists in 2007 before having his teammates vote him captain.

He and Harvard captain Matt Curtis will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Sept. 2 Baltimore-Boston game at Fenway Park to promote the 125th playing of The Game this November at Boston.

The Elis went 9-1 overall (6-1 Ivy) in 2007 and are picked, along with Harvard, to finish first in the Ancient Eight this season.
