PRINCETON, N.J. - Yale and Princeton got a chance to hit different color jerseys for the first time this summer with a scrimmage at Princeton Stadium on a hot summer afternoon on the synthetic grass.

The two rivals spent the first 45 minutes battling in situational drills before kicking off what actually looked like a game, except for the five quarters and sudden changes of possession without punting.

2007 Ivy League MVP Mike McLeod (New Britain, Conn.) carried the ball four times for 12 yards, including a six-yard score for Yale's first TD of the day. Junior RB Brandon Scott (Chatsworth, Calif.), who replaced McLeod in the second quarter, led all Bulldog runners with six carries for 50 yards and had a seven-yard scoring run.

Senior Ryan Fodor, who completed a 65-yard TD pass to Ken Ebeling (Mahwah, N.J.) in the third quarter, connected on four of six passes for 122 yards. Sophomore lefty Brook Hart (State College, Pa., 6-for-9, 62 yards) also looked sharp in his debut with the varsity.

Junior Rich Scudellari (Saratoga, Calif., 6-for-12, 72) saw equal time behind center but was picked off twice. Sophomore WR Jordan Forney (Bloomington, IN) was the primary target of the day with three catches for 40 yards.

Freshman QB Dawson Halliday (Knoxville, Tenn.) came on late in the scrimmage and hit sophomore FB Shane Bannon (Southbury, Conn.) in the flat on a play that turned into a 45-yard TD. Another freshman QB, Bryan Farris (Derry, N.H.), saw late action as well.

The Bulldog defense, which allowed one TD, was led by senior DT Kyle Hawari (Plano, Texas) with three solo stops and one sack.

Notes: Freshman DB Drew Baldwin (Alexandria, Va.) had Yale's only interception... Rookie RB Alex Thomas (Ansonia, Conn.) rushed six times for 34 yards and also had a reception... Junior Tom Mante (Westford, Mass.) handled the starting PK and punting duties... Junior SS Larry Abare (Acton, Mass.) made a few impact hits in his return after missing most of 2007 with an injury... Junior RB Rodney Reynolds (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) scored on a three-yard run in the fifth quarter.
