NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale quarterback Alvin Cowan (Austin, Texas) and returnman Robert Carr (Baytown, Texas) earned conference honors for their performances against Dartmouth last Saturday at the Yale Bowl. Cowan won Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, while Carr won Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week.
Cowan combined for 407 yards of total offense on Saturday, which stands as the third-highest amount ever in an Ivy League game and the fourth-most in the program's history. Cowan threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a team-high 89 yards in a 40-17 Yale victory.
Cowan is now rated fifth nationally in passing efficiency (164.1) and 10th in total offense (273.5).
Carr had an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, breaking a 17-all tie in the game. On the day, Carr had three returns for 122 yards and also rushed for a touchdown.
One of the nation's top returners, Carr leads the Ivy League and stands seventh in the nation in average yards per kickoff return (30.5).
The Bulldogs' 4-0 record marks their best start since 1981. Yale returns to action on Saturday, at Colgate, at 1 p.m.
