The Ivy League named Yale offensive lineman Ed McCarthy its Rookie of the Week for McCarthy's work in Yale's 27-24 double-overtime win over Princeton November 1. McCarthy is the first Eli to win Rookie of the Week honors this season.
McCarthy has started the last eight games, and has been a key part of helping the offense place second in the nation in total offense (468.4) and scoring (37.2).
"Eddie is one of those kids that is a really instinctive type of player," said head coach Jack Siedlecki. "He understands offensive line play probably better than any freshman I've ever been associated with, and has really made a big difference for us up front."
McCarthy is the fourth Eli overall to earn a weekly honor from the Ivy League. John Troost earned Special Teams Player of the Week against Columbia. Tailback Robert Carr won the same award for his work on kick returns in the Dartmouth game. Additionally, quarterback Alvin Cowan was named Offensive Player of the Week for that same game.
