2007-08: McCarthy came in as a freshman and made an immediate impact on the Bulldogs, competing in all eight tournaments. His best finish came at the Macdonald cup, where he finished tied for sixth. He shot rounds of 71 and 74 at that tournament. McCarthy had four top-10 finishes, finishing in seventh at the Barona Cup, 10th at the New England Division I Championship and ninth at the Ivy League Championship. McCarthy's lowest round of the year was the 71 he shot at the Macdonald Cup. McCarthy averaged 75.95 strokes per round, which was the second lowest on the team. High School: McCarthy attended Tolland High School, where he played varsity golf for four years. He captained his team both his junior and senior year. He was a three-time all-state selection from 2005-2007, as well as a four-time NCCC All-Conference selection from 2004-2007. He also was a HP AJGA Scholastic All-American in 2006. McCarthy's best year came in 2007 when he was the Connecticut High School Player of the year, Connecticut individual and team high school champion and New England High School Champion. His team was also state champions in 2006. Personal: McCarthy is a member of Morse College and is undecided on a major. He is the son of Daniel and Darlene McCarthy. He also has two brothers Brendan (22) and Mike (18).
