      <description>Six seniors and one team were honored by the Yale Athletics Department with awards at the annual senior student-athlete reception Saturday afternoon at the Lanman Center in Payne Whitney Gymnasium. The women's fencing team earned the Brodhead Award for highest team grade point average. Travis Henry (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) of the football team and Allison Mak (Richmond Hill, Ont.) of the gymnastics team were the recipients of the Ford Student-Athlete Community Outreach Award. Chris Labosky (Tallmadge, Ohio) of the men's cross country and track &amp; field teams and Julia Weiser (Houston, Texas) of the field hockey team were the recipients of the Kiphuth Student-Athlete Distinction Award. Stephanie Colantonio (Watertown, Mass.) of the field hockey team and Ben Wescoe (La Jolla, Calif.) of the men's golf team were the recipients of the Meyer Humanitarian Award.</description>

The first team is composed of the top-five finishers, while the second team is comprised of sixth place through 10th place.  The Ivy League Player of the Year award was voted on by the eight head men's golf coaches of the Ivy League.</description>

Yale took second with a three-round total of 852 (-12), losing only to the Tigers, who shot a staggering 820 (-44).</description>

The Bulldogs defeated Princeton in the first round (3-2) and followed that up by taking down last year's Ivy League champions Columbia in the second round (3-2).</description>

The Bulldogs look to continue that climb this weekend as they take on the Ivy League at the Ivy League Match Play event in Mattapoisett, Mass.  Princeton will be hosting the event at The Bay Club on Oct. 17-18.</description>

      <description>The Yale men's golf team was unable to grab first place at the Big Five Invitational, but even on a weekend when the Bulldogs felt they did not have their best stuff, the rest of the Ivy League proved to be no match for them.  Yale (594) came in third behind Campbell (587) and Richmond (591), but their Ivy League Competitors, Penn (600), Harvard (601), Cornell (609) and Princeton (616) finished in fourth, sixth, eighth and 13th, respectively.</description>
