Shoot -11, Break Yale Record
BETHANY BEACH, Del. – The men’s golf team picked up exactly where they left off in the fall. After two rounds at the George Washington Invitational, Yale is in second place with a score of 573 (-3). Yale’s first round of 277 (-11) was the lowest score in Yale’s history. Leading the tournament is Missouri with a score of 550 (-26). The next closest team to Yale is Towson in third with a score of 583 (+7).
Senior captain Ben Wescoe lead the way for Yale with a two-round score of 141 (-3). He currently sits in fifth place, after rounds of 68 (-4) and 73 (+1). Junior Thomas McCarthy and freshman Brad Kushner are in a tie for 11th, right behind Wescoe. McCarthy also shot a round of 68 (-4) to open the tournament and followed it up with a round of 75 (+3). Kushner shot rounds of 70 (-2) and 73 (+1). Junior Michael Fader is currently in a tie for 19th, after shooting a rounds of 71 (-1) and 75 (+3). His total is 146 (+2). Rounding out Yale’s team was senior Brandon Marick who is in a tie for 33rd. He shot a total of 151 (+7) with rounds of 74 (+2) and 77 (+5).
Yale also entered a second team in the tournament which is currently in 14th place. The team of senior Seve Gonzales, sophomores Zach Plutzik and Jeffrey Hatten, and freshman Russell Holmes shot a two-round total of 643 (+67).
The tournament will conclude Saturday with the final round.
