Look to Bounce Back After Last Week's 15th-Place Finish
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's golf team will wrap up its fall season this weekend at the Oct. 15-16 Northeast Invitational held at the Shelter Harbor Club in Westerly, R.I., as it looks to pick up momentum after last weekend's tie for 15th at the Big Five Invitational.
Last year, the Bulldogs finished the Northeast Invitational in 11th place, a result they will attempt to improve upon after the past season's successes. Indeed, the No. 38 nationally ranked team is well positioned to find itself near or at the top of the leaderboard, with a full slate of golfers contributing strongly to the team dynamic.
At the younger end of the spectrum are freshman William Davenport, who has broken into college competition with a string of successful finishes, and sophomore Sam Bernstein, last year's Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Bernstein and Davenport put in the Elis' strongest two performances at last weekend's Big Five Invitational and will look to notch up potent rounds this weekend.
Also poised to perform strongly are junior Bradley Kushner and senior captain Jeffrey Hatten, both of whom have fired several powerful rounds this fall. When the Bulldogs combine in an all-round team performance, the results speak for themselves: a first-place finish at the Oct. 1-2 Macdonald Cup and a third-place finish at the Sept. 19-20 Adams Cup.
The Elis will hit the links Saturday morning.
